Math 212: Exams


You are allowed to bring a regular sized (8.5"x11") cheat sheet (with anything you want written on it) which you hand in with your test and may qualify you for extra credit (max 5 points) on the in-class exams.

Exam 1

Exam 1 is scheduled for Friday February 27th, 2015 (in class). It will be on Chapters 12, 13 and Sections 14.1-14.5 and 17.1 of McCallum et al.

The practice exam is Test 1 from Fall 2014 (solutions are also available). More Exam 1 study problems and answers.

The original version of Exam 1 is available, as is the Exam 1 reprise.

The average on the original (in-class) version of Exam 1 was 77 with a standard deviation of 13. There is no curve on the grades for that exam. Do the reprise if you want to improve your Exam 1 grade.

The average on the Exam 1 Reprise was a 96 with the overal average on Exam 1 rising to an 86.

Solutions of Exam 1 are available. The average on the exam is 86.4. There is no curve (10X to 10X+2.5 is A-, B-, C-, D-; 10X to 10X-2.5 is B+, C+, D+; 10X+2.5 to 10X+7.5 is A, B or C.

Exam 2

Exam 2 is scheduled for Friday April 10, 2015 (in class). It should be on Sections 14.6-14.8, and other sections from Chapters 15 and 16 of Mccallum et al.

The Test 2 Practice Exam is the Fall 2014 Test 2. Solutions to this Test are available.

One 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper (one-sided) is allowed with you on Test 2.

Solutions of Exam 2 are available. The average on the exam is 86.4. There is no curve (10X to 10X+2.5 is A-, B-, C-, D-; 10X to 10X-2.5 is B+, C+, D+; 10X+2.5 to 10X+7.5 is A, B or C.

Final Exam

The Final Exam is scheduled for Wednesday May 6, 2015 (in the regular classroom Fowler 309) from 1-4pm. It should be on Chapters 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and some sections of 19 (19.3), 20 (20.1) and 21 (21.2) of Mccallum et al. The emphasis on the final exam will be Chapter 18 and later sections. This means that questions from these sections will be over-represented in the sample of potential problems, similar to the practice final exam.

One 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper (two-sided) is allowed for you to comsult on the final exam.

There will be a Final Exam Review session on (tentatively scheduled) Tuesday May 4th from 3-5pm in Fowler 309.
