XXVI Acceptance, Entry into Force and Registration
  1. Dates Agreement as of 30 October 1947.
  2. Allows accession by original participants until 1 March 1955.
  3. Requires an English and French original copy of this Agreement to be deposited with the UN Secretary-General.
  4. Each accepting government must fill "an instrument of acceptance with the Executive Secretary to the Contracting Parties" who provides notification.
  5(a) Each accepting government accepts on behalf of territories under its responsibility except for customs territories that it provides notification for.
  5(b) Allows for follow-up notification of inclusion of an originally excluded customs territory under 5(a).
  5(c) Allows for acceptance as a CP of any customs territory which achieves full autonomy subsequent to indirect acceptance under 5(a).
  6. "This Agreement shall enter into force" for the accepting governments 30 days after acceptance by Contracting Parties listed in Annex H which account for 85% of their combined total trade. Others can then join 30 days following their own filings for acceptance.
  7. Authorizes the UN to "effect registration of this Agreement as soon as it enters into force."
