Chapter 8: Traditional Logic

In order to fully appreciate quantificational logic, it is appropriate at this stage to develop in some detail a portion of it which was first formulated by Aristotle. One reason for this retrospective is that it is instructive to see that a significant fragment of what we now call predicate logic had already been developed around 500 B.C. But it is also important to understand the limitations of Traditional Logic, (sometimes called Aristotelean Logic)  where the limits are matters of both scope and accuracy.
