Math 120: Basic Calculus 2 Spring 2014

      Gateway Information

The Gateway workshops this semester are all held in Fowler 301 from 11:30-1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Student Peers are available at this time for assistance with retakes of gateway exams and tutoring. If you can't make any of these times, see Professor Lawrence for an appointment.
(He can be reached at x2647 in Fowler 324.)

It is REQUIREMENT of this class that you pass the following Gateway Exams this semester. Gateways are mastery quizzes which require you to demonstrate mastery of a particular skill. This is done by getting at least 9 questions correct on a 10 question quiz, taken as many times as you like.

The required Gateways for Math 120 Spring 2014 are DERIVATIVES and INTEGRALS.

Each Gateway exam is worth 2.5 percentage points on your COURSE GRADE. So, failure to pass all required gateway exams will lower your final grade by 5 percentage points. (Suppose you end the class with a 87.9 percent average. This would normally be a B+ grade but if you failed to pass both gateways your average would be reduced to a 82.9, which would be a B.)

      EXTRA CREDIT

If you pass the FUNCTIONS gateway and LIMITS gateway by the end of semester each will ADD 1 one percentage point to your COURSE GRADE.

The deadline to pass the Derivatives Gateway exam
is the beginning of Spring Break (March 8)!

The deadline to pass the Integrals Gateway exam
is the end of the semester (Apr 30)!

The deadline to pass the Functions and/or Limits Gateway exams
is the end of the semester (Apr 30)!
