Teachers Sought for SOA-Nankai University
Actuarial Graduate Program

In June, the Society of Actuaries and Nankai University celebrated the tenth anniversary of the signing of the agreement of support for the university's graduate program in actuarial science, and renewed the program for another three years. Teachers are being sought for all of the Associateship examinations and some of the CAS examinations for this new cycle which begins fall 1997 and continues through January 2000.

The courses are listed below with Nankai's preferences in ( ). For example, Life Contingencies Part I is Nankai's first preference to be taught by a Society member. Each course will be completed within a period of one month—with three weeks for lecturing, fifteen hours a week, total forty-five hours, and one week flexible at the sole discretion of the Member. The Society courses schedule will be flexible within the semester to accommodate to the teacher. Teaching assistants will be supplied by the University from among graduates of prior actuarial programs. A copy of any textbook and reference material to be used by a Member in teaching a course will be provided by the Society.

During their stay in China, the University will provide Members with an apartment, clinical medical care and local transportation for work during their stay at the University, and an allowance of 3,000 yuan (RMB) for each course (45 class hours). Members participating in this program are responsible for their round-trip international airfare.
