Set Control Parameters for gam

DESCRIPTION:
Allows control parameters to be set for gam.

USAGE:
gam.control(epsilon = 0.001, bf.epsilon = 0.001,
            maxit = 10, bf.maxit = 10, trace = F)

OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS:
epsilon:
convergence threshold for local scoring iterations.
bf.epsilon:
convergence threshold for backfitting iterations.
maxit:
maximum number of local scoring iterations.
bf.maxit:
maximum number of backfitting iterations.
trace:
logical value; if TRUE iteration details are printed while gam is fitting the model.

VALUE:
a list, consisting of the five parameters, conveniently packaged to supply the control argument to gam. The values for gam.control can be supplied directly in a call to gam; they are then filtered through gam.control inside gam.

EXAMPLES:
gam(Kyphosis ~ poly(Age, 2) + s(Start), data = kyphosis,
    subset = Number>5, control = gam.control(trace = T))

gam(formula, family, control = gam.control(bf.maxit = 15)) gam(formula, family, bf.maxit = 15) # these are equivalent
