Senior Comps Preparation

Write up a 1-page (250-300 words) description of a potential topic in advanced mathematics for which you would want to give a 15-20 minute presentation on in Math 400.

Produce at least 2 slides using the LaTeX beamer class which describes your topic. The first page should be the  Title with a 100-word abstract and the second page can be  a short outline of the topic (in prose form). The third page should consist of any references (preferrably more than one) for the selected topic.

Key issues to consider:

The primary objective of the Senior Comps project is for students to demonstrate their understanding of  a topic in advanced mathematics. The hope is that by  accomplishing the  project students will have  synthesized (or combined) material from  multiple 300-level courses.

The secondary objective of this exercise is to provide students with experience in using LaTeX in general (and beamer specifically) to make a choice about a potential Senior Comps topic.

The point of this exercise is to begin the creation of slides using beamer which could be used as a beginning source for your Comps Project to be completed in your senior year. It should be another piece of evidence which documents your ability to communicate mathematical ideas clearly and effectively, as part of the Junor Writing Requirement.

Final draft Due: Tuesday April 19th by PDF and LaTeX source shared using overleaf.com or sharelatex.com by 10:00am.
