Week 11) Read and take notes on Brotton, ch. 6 “Rewriting the Renaissance”

M April 6 Discussion of Brotton’s viewpoint on The Renaissance.

 W April 8 Student formal paper presentation begin today.   8-10 minutes lecture (powerpoint, handout optional) Fine to have notecards; do not read paper.  Look at audience. Arouse our interest in your 2 individuals, as we learn about the evidence for your interpretation. Some oral reports on papers:

Week 12) 

***Mon. April 13  Pass in complete Research Paper. 2 printed copies of Title Page, numbered Final Paper with Endnotes, Annotated Bibliography, Appendix with at least figure list for 2 included images, and  Sentence Outline which matches topical sentence of paper (l copy is for reserve). Have continuous numbering throughout with text of paper ending about p. 10, and endnotes and bibliography ending about page 13, and appendix and outline continuing in the pagination (even if by hand for now).

W. April 15  Reading and analysis of a student paper.  Reading other papers on reserve.   Email to your assigned student your paragraphs of analysis of the paper and your suggestions for how thesis might be better supported.  Wait for passing in to Prof. Horowitz after papers are passed back.
